The term ‘ways’ describes the number of different switches that a light fitting can be controlled by.
For example, a 1-way switch means that a light fitting can only be controlled by one switch, whereas a 2-way is a fitting that can be controlled by 2 different switches. 2-way switches can be extremely useful for areas of your home where you want to be able to control a light from two separate locations. For example, these are commonly used at the top and bottom of the stairs, by your bedroom door and beside your bed.
