The benefits of water-based paints are that they are odourless, quick-drying and can be cleaned with just water.
If you’re choosing between oil-based and water-based paint, you should consider the purpose and location of use. Oil-based paints have a smoother, shinier initial finish but are prone to yellowing over time. Oil-based tend to set hard within a few days, whereas water-based paints can take a few weeks to fully cure. Therefore, oil-based paints may seem better in the short-term, but for long-term durability and final finish, water-based is usually your best bet.
